The House

Close-up of Ing Hill Lodge Ing Hill is an attractive Lakeland Small House built probably early in the 19th century, originally we understand as a hunting lodge. It sits on the side of the quiet and totally unspoilt Mallerstang Dale, source of the River Eden, and thus at the head of the Eden Valley.

Local Amenities

Image of Kirkby Stephen Whilst standing alone the house is not remote and within a short drive can be found attractive pubs and restaurants. The local market town of Kirkby Stephen (don't pronounce the second 'k') is within 5 miles, providing local (including late night and small supermarket) shopping. Also available are the Post Office, two banks with cash machines, takeaways including no less than 3 fish and chip shops!

Self Catering Apartments

Self-Catering Apartments, front view The self-catering Apartments are in the attached barn and are unusually spacious for two people. The lounge/dining room has satellite TV with DVD player and an electric fire. The bedrooms have comfortable beds, the facilities include a shower enclosure and the kitchen is fully fitted (see relevant tab for more detail on each apartment).

Exploring

Mallerstang River Valley Ing Hill is well situated for exploring; the Yorkshire Dales National Park starts 4 miles to the south and Windermere is less than 30 miles distant. The roads are quiet and rapid easy drives to Hadrians Wall, the North Pennines Area of Outstanding Beauty, Penrith and Kendal are all possible.

Activities

Ing Hill & Mallerstang Valley, general view There are plenty of activities available in and around Kirkby Stephen. Cycling on and off road, horse riding on quiet bridle ways and interesting walks, high or low. In addition hang gliding, fishing, golf, bowls are all available. See Menu for more detail.

Bed & Breakfast Accommodation

Dining Room (B & B Accomodation) The main house can provide pre-booked B & B, all rooms with ensuite shower rooms. The two front rooms have king size double beds and fine views of the valley.
